To me she was Ultraviolet. To the hubs, she was Little Girl, so named by the person who found her hanging out with ferals and gave her to us. I miss all of the many cats we’ve had, but there was something extra sweet about this one. She left us suddenly for the Rainbow Bridge on September 3, 2018, about a year ago. She’d just had a good vet check-up and the suddenness made it harder.
I so miss you, Little Ultraviolet Girl! I was going to post this in a few days but today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day so I went ahead.
We only had her for about a year. She shines in my memories.
I know the feeling, Leah…so sorry.

Oh Leah I am so sad reading about UltraViolet & how you lost her just after I lost Purrince Siddhartha Henry! He left Aug. 28th, 2018 & I only had him 3 1/2 years. He was just 4 years & 1 month old…..I can say I miss him more than all my other cats who I had for many years….
The one who spend only a year or a few with us seem to stick with us longer…maybe because we did not get enough time with them???
I send you gentle {{{hugs}}} & <3, Sherri-Ellen

Sherri-Ellen, thank you for your kind hugs and sympathy. I am so sorry about the loss of your Purrince Siddhartha Henry. Yes it does feel so unfair when we only have them a short time and the loss is unexpected, and I think feel the loss in a different way than when a kitty has the more usual span of years with us. Hugs in return, Leah and Franklin ❤

I appreciate your kind & gentle words Leah. P SH was a Panleukopenia survivor. Unfortunately he developed IBD (Bowel Disease) & had Immune System issues. After he was given FVR-CP shot he got very ill physically & mentally…..he became confused & aggressive. There were many little attacks….until he attacked & almost took out my eye & shredded my right arm & back. It was horrific. He never deserved any of this. The Vet said the ONLY humane thing to do was to put him out of his misery…..
I was chastised by quite a few bloggers; called a ‘disgusting’ human being & not worthy to have a cat…..it was painful….on top of losing P SH. I almost quit blogging.
Thankfully you have Franklin & I have BellaDharma!

I’m so sorry to hear that, Sherri-Ellen. People can be terribly mean on the Internet (and elsewhere) as well as so short-sighted about things they know nothing about. And although we know we should ignore them the impact does hurt. I’m glad you didn’t stop blogging. Wishing you and BellaDharma all the best, from Leah and Franklin.

Thank you Leah for your kind words. One blogger even blocked me from their blog. It really shook me up. In all my years of blogging (14) I’d never had a problem.
I realize people did not understand what Panleukopenia is & what can happen to a cat when they get sick from it…it is not pretty.
I continue to blog because P SH would want me to. He would want BellaDharma’s voice to be heard.
Thank you again! *kissesss* to Franklin….

That’s terrible and I can understand why it upset you. I could tell some tales . . . I’ve seen discussions go into meltdown on the Internet. I think it’s an entire new way of conversing that humans are not ready for, and maybe there should be classes in how to do it. I think it’s polarizing people more in many ways. Purrs to you and P SH and BellaDharma.

You know what is really weird Leah is I see these people commenting on many other blogs….sometimes my comment is right under theirs. And it feels odd somehow. I have to agree with you that the Internet has polarized many people. Life is NOT black & white tho’; there are various shades of gray. Thankfully we still have devoted followers & true friends & I focus on them…people like yourself!!
P SH is hosting our blog today (Saturday the 28th). Please drop by when you can!
BellaDharma sends her ***purrsss*** to you & Franklin too!

Oh Leah, I am so deeply sorry for your loss of precious Ultraviolet aka Little Girl. She was adorable and clearly so special. Losing them is like losing a son or daughter that we’ve come to love and nurture. I understand the pain more than I can express. When I lost Shug, my whole world broke apart. It was awful. She was my girl.
Even though you only had her for a short time, she is with you always. It’s amazing how we hold them so closely in our hearts, isn’t it? I love your love for her coming through this post. My sympathies are with you 🙏🏼

It’s never easy losing a cat companion but some stand out more than others. Although I dearly love Frankie and Freddie I still miss Friday who passed 6 years ago. But I was fortunate to live with him for over 18 years. Ultraviolet was a special cat and editor.

Ultraviolet was beautiful, and that’s a great name for a black kitty. Even when they’re with you for only a short time, they can make a big impression. We had our Sammi for only 2 years, but she had so much personality they were memorable!

Really sad to hear about Ultraviolet. I know I will be devastated when time comes for my daughters. Keep up your good work and spirit though because cats sure know you are one of them and I think that is important. I know all the cats that I had the opportunity to interact in the past knew I am one of them and they can trust me 100%. Hence keep up your good work.

We do miss our pets who have crossed the Bridge, and hope to see them again. Maybe they are waiting for us. I suspect my late wife is there taking care of them all. UltraViolet did leave too soon as I remember, though, anytime seems “too soon”.

Thanks Greg, for your kind thoughts. I’m sad about your wife and the kitties you have lost, too. I hope you are right and they are all cared for and waiting. Ultraviolet was 11, not young, but our cats had usually lived into their teens. Apparently she had a cardiac condition the vets had not found. She appeared to have a little Persian in her; those kitties apparently have a higher incidence of cardiomyopathy, or so I’ve read.

Every sweet kitty you live with leaves footprints on your heart that never go away. But I’m sure your Little Ultraviolet Girl is proud that you were able to pay it forward in her memory by transcending your grief to give another kitty looking for a home the opportunity to have a life just as wonderful as the one Ultraviolet had with you.

I think we probably get that feeling no matter what the age of the kitty or pet . . . health is a hard thing to measure, even more so with animals, and often there’s something that is just out of our control.

Isn’t odd how we stay so attached? I think these exquisitely emotional creatures stay with those who loved them after physical death. We’ve actually seen one simultaneously as a ghost. It’s evanescent, but it serves as a reminder that they are there, just not here. It’s a far cry from petting, caring for and nourishing them, but it reminds us that love never dies. We will see them again, I believe, with lots of evidence to back it up.
