News from the Cat Writers’ Association and University Art Department

Franklin is cool, calm, and collected

In the last few days two exciting events have lifted my spirits! I learned I am now a member of an organization of cat writers and artists working in various media, the Cat Writers Association, Woo Hoo! Check out the spiffy new badge over to the right! Check out their CWA website! They are also on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

And The University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History published the following link about my book! Woo Hoo!

Alumna Publishes Memoir of Life with Cats

UA’s always had a great Art Department and still does!

A big shout out to everyone who made these two events happen! Both really mean a lot to me and I don’t have words to say how excited I am!

None of this fazes Franklin, who remains astonishingly calm about it all.

In other news, we’ve actually had fall! The pictures are in still in the camera and I’ll get them out one day and post. So stay tuned!

Don’t forget that the Catwoods book will make a great holiday gift!

      Thanks Pam, I think it will be fun! When I started researching for the book in 2004 I found that cat literature went back many more years and was far more extensive than I had realized. LOL I’ve barely scratched the surface! Now with the Internet it keeps expanding!

    Hi, Leah! Congratulations on becoming a member of CWA — I have heard of that organization and know it’s a fine one indeed! And congratulations too on the Alabama link. What terrific publicity, but more than that, what a wonderful honor to be written about! You and your book definitely deserve to be noted! And, of course, Franklin, looking dapper as ever, likewise should be feted. 🙂 Sorry I haven’t been as active online of late — lots of stuff happening around here (my neighbor’s house caught fire, we hit a deer — all okay, but geez, too much drama!).       Hi Deb, thanks so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it, and Franklin is purring! That is just too much going on at once, I agree! I sure hope the fire was put out quickly and there isn’t too much damage to your neighbor’s house. I’m so glad you are okay from the deer collusion, those can be really destructive. Deer are so darn unpredictable and fast, I’m always petrified when they are on or near any road we’re on. Deb, a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband and Charlie Dog and cats, from Leah.

        All okay, Leah — thanks for asking! The deer just ran out and hit the side of our car. Ironically, I was coming home from a writing workshop (haven’t been to one in years; maybe shouldn’t do anymore LOL). And my neighbor won’t get back in her house for 3-6 months, mostly due to smoke damage. I count my blessings neither was worse. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well — and a big hug to Franklin! 🙂 Deb
