Cats Show Off, While We Catch Up

Franklin about the same time of year in 2019

I so appreciate lovely readers who care about cats and animals! That’s why we are here, to celebrate and to advocate for cats and the natural world, and art.

The spring light in the above photo of Frankie is similar to what I see now (I did tinker with the color), but time has moved on.

Boss the climbing panther

Three difficult episodes of severe weather alerts have drained and scrambled us recently. All of us, cats and humans, came through physically safe. But there were lives lost. So I’m sad and tired, posting in a non-linear, time jumpy sort of way. More details on those alerts later when I (hopefully) have the pictures that go with them. We’ll use pictures out of sequence. Our show-off cats won’t mind as long as they look like the gorgeous creatures they are.

Spooky Little Girl

Spooky is getting even friendlier! Yay! That’s a leopard tail toy in the background, not another cat’s tail.

Stripey, Boss, and Spooky

Three sunsoakers.

Lynx watch

I highly recommend Surveillance by Lynx.

Spooky snoozes while her brothers keep watch

Everyone’s here except Moonpie.

Lovely Moonpie

Here she is, enjoying herself. All of these Kittens have such large, roundish, plush pawpads.

Stripey beauty

Stripey has tabby magnificence! And quite a set of whiskers!

Moonpie and Boss

Protect me, big brother; don’t fall asleep!

Fellow blogger Dawn’s family at Lola the Rescue Cat needs some help, click Help for Lola and Lexi’s Family to learn about it, and please help if you can. Sharing will also help.

The kitties want everyone to read my MUSE Award-winning book, Catwoods, which also celebrates the beauty and individuality of kitties! If you like it, reviews at Amazon are always appreciated. Boss is still reading it and wants everyone to know he recommends it! Click on the link at the upper right, or check out the “Order the Catwoods Book Online” page above.

Frankie on a blankie about this time last year

An extra Franklin pic!

Sunny Shelley

Our friend’s cat, Sweet Shelley! Stay tuned, spring is underway, wisteria scent is everywhere and more pictures are coming!

  1. I adore your photos, especially the four together. I wish mine were as social with one another.

    • Leah says:

Thank you Jen, the kitties and I are happy you like the photos. Five of these cats are siblings (I still call them The Kittens though they’re grown), even though they vary widely in appearance. My prior groups of cats from differing backgrounds weren’t always very social together either.

  2. So sorry your weather was so horrible, Leah. Hope you’re all safe and sound now🙏 We loved to see all the kitties, they look very relaxed and colorfull😸Pawkisses for a Peaceful Day to all of you🐾😽💞

    • Leah says:

Thank you so much for your kind words and good wishes, Little Binky and Granny! We are safe now although the spring tornado season isn’t over. No severe storms predicted for the next several days, though. The kitties and I wish you a peaceful day too!

  3. DS Levy says:

I’m a day late (well, more than one actually) and a dollar short, Leah, but I’m also so glad when I check in and see your lovely cat photos — such great-looking felines! — and read that you all got through the terrible storms that blasted through the south. I will definitely check out the link to you provided. If everyone could just do a little bit, I always think, so much could get done. I’m in Michigan now, watching the woods wake up (and looking like heck to find the black bear that’s been known to hang around). My husband had Covid last month but is doing much better now. I got the J&J one-shot and I’m hoping like heck it protects me up here, because MI is in terrible shape virus-wise. Hope you and your husband are well, and I know the kitties are all so well-loved and lucky to have you both watching over their dear lives. Deb

    • Leah says:

Hi Deb, I’m so glad to know your husband is doing better, but so sorry he caught Covid. I sure hope the vaccine protects you. We’re working on getting ours done but it’s going slowly, We were in pretty bad virus shape in AL too, then the case counts started going down but now they are going up again. Groan. Glad you got to the woods, it’s so refreshing when spring comes back, I just don’t like winter much. But a bear, yikes! Be careful! The kitties are very pleased with your comment, they do love to be told they are good looking! Warmest wishes, Leah

      • DS Levy says:

Hi, Leah! Getting back late (as usual for me) LOL I always forget to check my WordPress app! Yes, my husband is much better, and I’ve had the J&J jab and haven’t had any side effects (it’s been over 2 weeks now). MI is in bad shape, too, and I expect IN, who just got rid of its mask mandate, will be following right along. No sign of a bear yet! 🙂 You tell those kitties they’re “blog stars”! I always love looking at their pic and reading about them—and you! Take care, stay safe! Deb

        • Leah says:

Oh I’m glad your husband is better, Deb, and that you are vaccinated, and without any problems. I’m afraid we’ll soon be in trouble again here too, sigh, mask order ended here too. The kitties are very pleased with your comment and they really like the idea of being stars! You and your husband take care and stay safe too!

  4. Carole Schulman says:

MY dear kitties, you DO indeed have roundish and plush paw pads. If my mom was there, she would ask if she could smooch them! She’s one of those who don’t care where they’ve been. 🙂

  5. Great post Leah and brilliant images of all your sweeties! They all look gorgeous and make me feel happy. Spooky looks like my Megan Sweetie for sure. Looking at all these sweeties, I feel really good. Keep up the great work! Saludos! Ashraf

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I thank you Ashraf! We are so glad you like our pictures and they make you happy! The kitties make me happy too! Spooky and your Megan Sweetie are both cuties! Thanks again, Leah

  6. chattykerry says:

I saw that you had bad weather in your region – it always puts me on edge too. It is always a sadness when people die during weather events. I hope you had a nice Easter nonetheless. I love Spookie’s white moustache – her face invites attempted cuddles!

    • Leah says:

Those weather events are nerve-wracking for sure, and they’ve been more frequent this year . . . Easter was nice, with brilliant sunny weather for a change. That Spooky with her little moustache is for sure a cutie pie, but she’s still only snuggly on her terms and in certain ways, as cats often are.

      • chattykerry says:

The crazy weather is everywhere – us with our snow and deep freeze. My aunt says it floods in the south of Ireland all the time. I love that cats only give you conditional love!

  7. Lavinia Ross says:

Your kitties are a beautiful bunch, Leah! Wishing you all a Happy Easter. ❤️

Purrs and prayers for Sylvia, that she is able to get what she needs. ❤️

    • Leah says:

Thank you Lavinia, the kitties and I appreciate it! We wish y’all a Happy Easter too!
And we also appreciate the good wishes for the family of the kitties Lola and Lexi!

  8. Such an amazing collection of beautiful kitties! Happy Easter!

  9. Denis1950 says:

    Some wonderful character studies.

  10. Such lovely photos, especially the one of Shelley. Take care of yourself. Hopefully the world (weather, viruses, politics) calms down soon!

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I thank you, Indulgedfurries; Shelley is especially pleased with your comment! We’re certainly ready here for everything to be cool, calm, and collected!

  11. The cats are gorgeous! You can see by their demeanour and their eyes that they are well loved (and they love). Stripy has a prize winning expression, the photo would make a terrific portrait. I do hope that your weather adversity is past! We are heading into high water as the snow pack melts. The cat carriers and the ditty bags are ready. Thanks for sharing the cats your photos are truly art!

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I thank you for all your kind words, they love to hear about how beautiful they are and Stripey is especially pleased! I’m happy you like the pictures, they are lots of fun for me to do.
I sure hope you won’t be impacted by the high water and have to leave! Tornado season usually lasts through April here and sometimes longer. Groan, but we are used to it.
      Cheers and Meows, Leah

  12. catscue says:

  15. Oh they’re gorgeous

  16. BJ Deming says:

I was following the outbreak and alerts online and am real glad you all are okay. Beautiful pictures, too!

    • Leah says:

Thank you BJ, we appreciate it! There seems to be a lot going on this year . . . the kitties and I are happy you like our pictures!

  17. meowmeowmans says:

We are sorry your weather has been so volatile, but glad you are all okay. We see from some of the comments above that you have another storm on the way. We purr and pray you remain safe and well.

All of your cats are so beautiful, Leah! And look at Spooky! She absolutely looks like she is gaining some confidence. Wonderful news!

    • Leah says:

Thank you so much, meowmeowmans, for all your kind words and good wishes! We do have storms tomorrow, level 2 out of 5 risk so not as extreme as some, but not to be taken lightly either.
The kitties and I thank you for saying they are beautiful! Spooky is really starting to blossom and we are so happy about that!
      Cheers and Meows,

  18. Cathy Keisha says:

They are lovely and Shelly is stunning!

  19. KDKH says:

I’m glad you are all safe. Keep us informed, but it isn’t urgent. Your family comes first.

    • Leah says:

Thank you KDKH, I appreciate it! I will certainly try to let everyone know at the earliest opportunity, every time there’s a serious weather event.

      • KDKH says:

Well, a southern spring would mean that you would allergy’s every afternoon and occasional mornings and evenings, so maybe we don’t need that much hand holding. I’m just glad your family didn’t come to any harm.

      • Leah says:

We got through today okay KDKH, yay!

  20. 15andmeowing says:

All your kitties are beautiful. I am sorry you have had bad weather. XO

  21. Such beautiful photos of our beautiful family. We hope your weather is better now. And thank you so much for sharing the fundraiser! We so appreciate it.

    • Leah says:

Thank you Lola, the kitties and I appreciate it. We had better weather for awhile but now tomorrow it gets scary again, yikers. We are happy to share your fundraiser post and we send all good wishes to you and your family.

  22. All the kitties are cute, but I think my favorite is still Lynx.😻

    • Leah says:

Thanks nanasworldweb, the kitties and I appreciate it and Lynx is very happy with your comment. He is quite a kitty indeed!

  23. Debbie says:

Your black cats look so much like Harry. All the cats are beautiful.

  24. Lovely, as always! Nice to see the kitties snuggling together.

  25. I am too tired to count yours this morning but the most cats I ever had at one time was six. It was fun having so many but of course a bit more time consuming and expensive. I am glad Spooky is behaving.

    • Leah says:

We have six indoor cats and a variable number of ferals, much excitement and fun. We had a group of 5 in the past. It does get busy and costly but we’re okay with that. We’re really happy about Spooky these days!

  26. cat9984 says:

Everybody’s looking good! Hope your weather’s improved.

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I appreciate that cat9.984, they love to hear it! Weather was better for a few days, here we go again tomorrow . . .

  27. Charlee: “ADT has got nothing on you, Lynx!”
Chaplin: “We sure hope March settles down into going ‘out like a lamb’ the way it’s supposed to!”

    • Leah says:

Ahahaha nothing much gets past Lynx! Thank you so much for the well wishes! As of just a moment ago, It looks like the last day of March will be stormy again, yikers.

  28. Brian says:

Such sweet and pretty kitties! I’m glad you all are safe from the storms.

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I thank you Brian, they love to hear that! We are glad to be safe too, but here comes another risky day tomorrow, yikers!

  29. -Eugenia says:

Beautiful pictures of your kitties, Leah! ❤️

  30. Dearest Leah,
Lovely photos from your kitty family!
Ours (the four siblings from originally 5 and one killed by car…) celebrate today their 14th birthday!
Thanks for sharing the story of the other blogger’s niece; heartbreaking!

    • Leah says:

Hi Mariette, the kitties and I are happy you like our pictures, we appreciate it! How marvelous that your kitty siblings are having their 14th birthday. We wish them all a very Happy Birthday!
It is sad about Dawn’s niece and I sure hope she and her family get the help they need.
I have tried to follow your site several times and I just don’t seem to get the notifications. Everything wordpress has been a bit glitchy about the following thing lately. I will try to visit anyway at times, I just haven’t been too well lately.
Hugs and purrs, cheers and meows,

  31. They are wonderful!!!!

  32. Correne says:

Lovely photos Leah. Your kitties all look so happy and content.

  33. Spooky looks like the cat I rescued in February. White whiskers and paws. So sweet! All photograph really well!

    • Leah says:

Thanks Kate, the kitties and appreciate it! Those tuxies with the black and white on them are always just so cute!

  34. Charles Huss says:

Those are great photos. It looks like you have a great meeting spot there when the sun is shining.

  35. Your kitties look so contented and relaxed. I love the photo of Spooky with her little white moustache under her nose. Adorable. Great that she’s feeling safe enough to relax into a friendlier mode.
I hope your weather calms down. Stay safe. 🙂

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I thank you Lynette! I agree Spooky’s little mustache is super cute and we are very happy that she’s becoming such a sweetie. Thanks for the well wishes, we are trying but have another month of tornado season to go, sigh.

  36. Timothy Price says:

    Such beautiful kitties.

  37. I so enjoy your posts – my favorite pic in this set is Lynx half on table, half on window sill, 100% confidant!

  38. Your kitties are all lovely and sweet to show themselves off for all of us!

Sorry that you are experiencing so much adversity, at least in the lives of those you know and love.
I sure hope your niece will find all the help and support she needs.

  39. John says:

Leah, all of your cats are beautiful and look so healthy! They are such beautiful creatures. I don’t have pets right now by choice. I’m sorry about all of the bad experiences you’ve had recently. I watch The Weather Channer frequently and have seen the recent rains flooding Nashville. And tornadoes. Please be very safe! It’s great to see you in my inbox. 😊😺😻

    • Leah says:

The kitties and I thank you for your kind words, John, and we appreciate the way you always show up on our posts! We’re trying to stay safe, and we do take serious precautions when it occurs. The severe weather potential this spring is coming more often and at more intense levels than usual so it has us a bit worn out. You take care too, I enjoy your photos, every day!

      • John says:

Thanks, Leah, I’m always glad to see your newest post. Thanks again for visiting my blog daily too, I really appreciate you so much!. ❤️
