Black Cat Beauty Through All Seasons

Boss is a wise kitty

Boss is here to brighten things up a bit.

I usually wait several weeks between posts, and I’m not ready to do a long post. But I wanted to strike a pleasant note by leaving a couple of pictures here until I can post something longer.

Cats are a force of nature, livening up whatever scenery surrounds us.

And, another spring picture!

Crabapple blooms

In spring many kittens are found, and some might have radial hypoplasia. These cats can be cared for and can live a happy life. My post about our late Little Buddy, “Our Cat With Feline Radial Hypoplasia” is here. It has stayed on the first page of a google search for “feline radial hypoplasia” for years. He was my late Mom’s cat who came to live with us after she passed.

There is even more about Little Buddy in my book, Catwoods. If you have read the book, thank you so much! If you like it, please consider that the kitties and I would love to see some more Amazon reviews! We have all 5-star reviews so far, but we’d like to have more! And if you haven’t yet read it and you order a copy, that will help us take care of our kitties and their feral elders!

I’ve had an Instagram account for awhile now and have yet to figure out exactly how I’ll post there, as we work on photo stuff. Thanks so much to all those who have followed it! I will post eventually, for now I am “liking” and enjoying the posts of others.

  1. Boss looks like proper Sweetie though! Kudos to Boss! Meow and Paws Up!

    • Leah says:

Boss is indeed a very sweet cat! And a very smart kitty, too! Cheers and Meows!

      • Yes, Boss looks like one of the cats that used to come and socialize with me for no reason. I used to call her Panther and you may have seen her in my other blog. I miss her as I do not live in that area where she lives. Here, where I am living now, there are few cats come to my flat at night, as I needed to keep the windows open for my cats to go out, so they take the opportunity to sneak in and enjoy the buffet meal I put out for them. I think they owners do not feed them well and they like hanging out in my balcony at night time. One of them even rest in my lounge for few hours and at dawn gently leaves. Meow!

        • Leah says:

I think I do remember your Panther! Cats always know who to go to . . . and sometimes they do indeed go to be fed at more than one place, I’ve known of cats who did that before. Meows!

  2. Kirsten Bett says:

    Joyous pictures!

  3. Boss is so good looking! He must be the boss around there. Little Buddy was also a charmer. We are so lucky to have cats as delightful as they are.

    Jean

    • Leah says:

Boss and I thank you, Jean! He is sort of the Boss of his brothers and sisters, and he seems the most mature of the Kittens. Little Buddy thanks you from the Rainbow Bridge. You are so right, having cats is good fortune indeed!
      Leah and kitties

  4. pdlyons says:

beautiful cat and those flowers ~ sweet. thanks for that

  5. chattykerry says:

I can’t remember the last time I saw crab apple blossoms! Love the Boss and a hug to all the others!

  6. Boss is a beautiful cat. We are looking forward to your posts on Instagram. (We follow you!) P.s. thank you for your comments on our posts.

    • Leah says:

Boss and I thank you, Lola and Dawn! I We are following you, too! We are moving slowly towards getting everything going. My pleasure commenting on your posts!

  7. JoAnn says:

Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing! We have several feral cats that roam the neighborhood… seems pretty common in Central Florida. They do not let anyone approach them although I have bought kitty food and left it out for them even though I don’t own a cat myself. That’s when I noticed that other people frequently leave cat food out for them as well. It’s oddly endearing.

    • Leah says:

Thank you JoAnn, I appreciate it!
That is so kind of you and others to leave food for the ferals! It’s wonderful when people feed them, they really do need the help.

  8. That’s a great picture of Boss and that was a very interesting story of your Angel Little Buddy. We always like to see the blossom of the apple tree. It looks like yours…MOL 😸Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of you🐾😽💞

    • Leah says:

Thank you Little Binky and Granny, I’m happy you enjoyed our pictures and the story of our Little Buddy! Also glad that you can also see the beautiful blooming apple tree! Thank you for the good wishes! Cheers and Meows and all good things to you also!

  9. Boss is beautiful and so is the crabapple tree-I have one in my backyard and love it! Great for the birds too

    • Leah says:

Boss and I thank you, we appreciate it! The crabapple is a pretty tree for sure. Ours used to attract small bees, until sadly, bees seemed to become rare here.

  10. icelandpenny says:

Cats are always magic, but that first photo is especially magic as well, with that band of shadow from the window frame falling just-so across the cat’s eloquent eyes

    • Leah says:

Penny, thank you so much for your kind words, Boss and I appreciate it and we’re happy you like his picture!

  11. Mee-yow Miss Leah you an Franklin meen alot to us…all of youss’ due! ❤

    **purrss** BellaDharma an ❤ LadyMew

    • Leah says:

BellaDharma, now that is a darn good idea about a title for another book! I’ll be lucky to be able to get Vol. 2 of the one I have out now done though . . . it’s almost all written, but, so many details to take care of! Boss thanks you, we’re glad you like his picture! Cheers and Meows and Purrs!

  13. Caren says:

BOTH of your photos are GORGEOUS!!!!! But….I’m partial to the first one……just beautiful!!

  14. thebigbuddy says:

Ah, now I understand how you came across my blog: You had your own Little Buddy! Nice work on the photos of him and Boss. It’s not easy to take good photographs of black cats, but when it’s done properly you can appreciate their beautiful features.

As for Instagram, it’s intentionally feature-limited on desktop, so you have to use the mobile version to actually upload photos. That’s unfortunate for those of us who crop/level our photos in Photoshop or Pixlr, but there’s no way around it that I know of.

    • Leah says:

Big Buddy, Thanks so much for your kind words on the photos! It is is indeed a challenge to photograph black cats and I almost always have to rely on an ancient photoshop program to bring out their features. When I joined Instagram I didn’t know it had to be done from the phone. We’re slowly working on other computer stuff right now and when that’s done I’ll tackle posting on IG.
Little Buddy’s name just morphed into it’s Buddy form. It’s a good name for a kitty, I think. In fact there have been times when I addressed all the boy kitties by “Buddy” and the girl kitties as “Sweetheart”.

  15. Cats always seem to have that air of wisdom about them and Boss surely does…a lot of it!!
Those crab apple blossoms are beautiful!
I have an IG account, but I don’t use it…and I hardly ever use my FB account either….keeping up with the blogs on my PC is enough for me…
I always enjoy your posts, here, though!

    • Leah says:

Thanks Ingrid, and Boss thanks you too! We are happy you like the pictures! It’s getting harder for me to keep up with so many social media websites, for sure. I’m trying to work it all out but that’s going to take awhile. Cheers and Meows!

  16. Boss is a gorgeous House Panther and we love your blossoms. I LOVE your posts and your photos! We hope you have a marvellously happy week!

    • Leah says:

Marv, Jo Jo, Kozmo, Cinnamon and Barb, thank you so much for your kind words! Boss and the other kitties thank you too! We are always so happy if we can post something people enjoy. I love your posts too, and we wish y’all a marvelous week in return! Cheers and Meows and Purrs!

  17. Carole Schulman says:

I’m on Instagram and rarely post there, nor does anyone much go to see us. But occasionally when I have a wildlife I happen onto, I will. Of course there are a few videos of Katie Isabella. I will look for you.

    • Leah says:

Cool! I want to follow you but just went there and couldn’t find you … but I’ll definitely follow back once you find me! I’d love to see those videos!

  18. DS Levy says:

Boss is a fine-looking (i.e., handsome) Boss 🙂 Lovely post as always, Leah! I do remember that post about Little Buddy, and a fine one it was, informative for me since I’d never heard of that condition. Say, have you thought about Twitter? When I had my blog, CDog & Co, I followed quite a few pet bloggers there, and they followed me, too. It’s a good place for writers — you just have to avoid getting hung up on all the self-congratulatory stuff that leaks in. As long as you hashtag your tweets right/accurately, though, that shouldn’t be a problem. I’d be happy to share your book there, if you wouldn’t mind (I believe I have before?), send potential readers to your site or Amazon? Hope you’re having a nice spring. Temps are all over the board here (in IN). But it’s warming up, so I’ll take it!!! LOL Deb

    • Leah says:

Boss thanks you Deb! And so do I! You know, I have thought of Twitter, but I’ll have to see how it goes on Instagram before adding yet another website . . . I’m getting so I can’t do as much as I used to, can’t hardly get around to the sites I’m already on . . .
And, while we try to get our ducks in a row here, (first we have to get past yet another chance of severe weather today and tomorrow, sigh), I’d be very happy if you share my book on Twitter! I do recall that you did before and I appreciate it very much, Deb. I’m also so happy you like the book!
Spring flowers and early summer flowers that are starting now here are nice indeed! We now have warm weather but these blasted storms are really a problem . . . I’m glad you are getting some warmer weather now. It’s fun when spring happens differently in different areas and you can experience that on the Internet, that way it seems like it lasts longer . . . Cheers and Meows, Leah

  19. Boss looks like an old soul. Great photo of him and the blossoms! I look forward to seeing you photos on IG. 🙂 Hugs from me and Samantha.

    • Leah says:

Thank you so much Pam, and Boss thanks you too! We’re happy that you like the pictures. Meows and Purrs and Hugs from the kitties and me to you and Samantha.

  20. 15andmeowing says:

Boss is a cutie. I just looked at the post from 2104 of Little Buddy, he was a handsome boy. XO

    • Leah says:

Thanks you Ellen, Boss and I appreciate it and I’m sure Little Buddy appreciates it from the Rainbow Bridge! XO

  21. catscue says:

    Gorgeous cat, beautiful blooms!

  22. Charlee: “We love blossoms!”
Lulu: “I didn’t know you two were into flowers.”
Chaplin: “We’re not, but they attract hummingbirds and butterflies and stuff, and we are definitely into those!”

    • Leah says:

Ahahahaha Charlee and Chaplin, Boss and I are happy you like our bait, uh, flowers. Hi to Lulu, Cheers and Meows!

  23. Lavinia Ross says:

Little Buddy has an interesting story, Leah. Hugs to you and your late mother for adopting him and taking care of him all those years.

    • Leah says:

Thank you for reading Little Buddy’s story, Lavinia! He lived a long and happy life and proves that kitties with radial hypoplasia can be adopted and cared for. Cheers and Meows and Hugs!

  24. Dearest Leah,
    Glorious Crabapple blossoms!
Boss is very photo genetic and seems to be indeed a wise thinker.
Your Buddy was lucky for making it to the age of 19. We’ve never had a kitty reaching that so far…
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    • Leah says:

Thank you Mariette, I’m happy you like our pictures and Boss thanks you too, he is a deep thinker! Little Buddy certainly did live a long life. We had one other kitty who lived to 19 years too. The sad thing is that sometimes vets want to euth radial hypoplasia cats. Little Buddy proves that they can live long and happy lives. Cheers and Meows and Hugs!

  25. Correne says:

    Beautiful kitty and blooms!

  26. Brian says:

Such beautiful furs and pretty flowers too!

  27. pollymorse says:

You post like a boss!!!! Very nice pictures.

    • Leah says:

Ahahaha Polly, Boss and I appreciate your comment and we thank you. We are happy you like our pictures! Cheers and Meows!

  28. meowmeowmans says:

Boss is such a beautiful house panther. And clearly very wise, too!
I also enjoyed your photo of those blossoms. Spring has definitely sprung. 🙂

    • Leah says:

Boss and I thank you meowmeowmans, we are happy you like our pictures. Boss is a deep thinker, alright, and spring is definitely in the air! Cheers and Meows!

  29. Yes, Boss is a very wise-looking kitty. I love how kitties can look at you as if they can see inside your head!
    Lovely blossoms. 🙂

    • Leah says:

Thanks Lynette, I’m glad you liked the pictures and the blooms! Oh yeah, kitties can look at a person with great understanding and Boss is a deep thinker! Cheers and Meows!

  30. sandradalton says:

I look forward to seeing your posts on Instagram! It took me a while to figure out how to post there because I don’t do that kind of stuff on a phone or tablet, but I have found a few ways to do it from the PC. If that’s what is holding you back, let me know and I can tell you the ways I know of (if not, I won’t bore you with those details :-)).

    • Leah says:

Thanks Sandra, I appreciate your kind words of encouragement and the offer of help! We did find the article on how to post on Instagram from the PC. Looked into it and something about it made me think I would just try to use the phone although we haven’t worked that out yet. We have a lot more to do before trying that and we don’t work fast, but if I do need some more help I will definitely let you know!

  31. Boss certainly makes wise choices in where to pose! Gorgeous shot! (As are the blooms.)

  32. Timothy Price says:

Boss does look like a wise kitty. Beautiful blossoms.

  33. John says:

Lovely blooms, Boss is a beauty! You post every few weeks? Seems like it’s more often. What is your address if I may ask?

    • Leah says:

Glad you enjoyed the pictures, John, Boss and I thank you! Well you are probably right, lately I’ve posted more often but my schedule over the years was often as long as a month or two between posts. Cheers and Meows!
